David Billington is the Gordon Y.S. Wu Professor of Engineering, Emeritus in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University.  He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, has received countless honors (including an honorary PhD from Notre Dame), and is highly respected in the field of structural engineering.  He is best known for his research in the history and aesthetics of structures and the transformation of American society by engineering.
